My First Visit to the Animal Haven, Noah’s Ark - by Maruli

When I look back, I believe that fate had kindly brought me to Noah’s Ark. Just the other day, I was looking at pet pictures from an online forum and before I knew it, I was invited to go down!

The moment we arrived at Noah’s Ark and before we even got down from the car, there were dogs already running out to greet us! From afar, we heard the welcoming barks as they smelt and heard our car drive onto the gravel road. After all, Noah’s Ark is a free-roaming animal sanctuary.

Hiding from the sun's heat..

I was given a friendly caution of what I could expect from the dogs so that I could be mentally prepared. The moment the big gate swung open, a sea of dogs came swarming at us from all directions. They would sniff, lick, “climb” and bark to say “Hello” at me. Personally, this is a milestone I have achieved, where I was surrounded by an ocean of dogs.

This is just a small portion of the residents

Lucky for me, that day the horses happened to be grazing out on that fine sunny day! It’s amazing to see the dogs and horses live in harmony although occasionally the dogs tend to get naughty and bark at the horses. Rest assured it is just part of them being playful.

Who says big and small creatures cannot live in harmony?

My friends told me that animal shelters would have the usual smell. However, that is not really applicable to Noah’s Ark. The smell is not strong at all despite having about 700 dogs roaming around in the sanctuary.

Most of the dogs have stories and names, but they are too long to elaborate. However, my camera snapped away at some of the dogs that caught my eye -

A place to truly call home

Jake’s infamous “Rub My Belly Please” pose

I thought that was a teddy bear on the floor!

Such a healthy and happy looking dog - the wonders fresh air can do for you!

Josky, the unique Husky with 2 different eye colours!

Let’s move on to the cats, shall we? Cats were housed in a separate living squatter where they can be seen lazing around on top of a table, beside the window, on the floor, by the stairs, or simply just ANYWHERE & EVERYWHERE!!!

“You can’t even let me sleep peacefully?”

DND - dozing off in my own private corner

Spider + cat = spidercat!

Tumis, the one and only dog allowed into the cattery

Men’s best friend – Dogs. Dogs’ best friend – Cats!

The whole animal scratching experience lasted for only 2 short hours. How I wish it were longer. I had heaps of fun taking the many pictures you see above! My first visit to Noah’s Ark can be summarised in a single “WOW”. Nonetheless, I’ll definitely be back. Just you wait Noah’s Ark. Just you wait.
